一拍鲜知 (the “App”, App Store bundle ID com.nicebefore.app, referred to below as “we”, “us” or “our”) takes your personal information and your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information, and the rights you have.
Please read this policy carefully and make sure you understand it before using the App. By tapping to agree to this policy, you confirm that you have fully understood it and agree to our processing of your personal information as described here.
Language and governing version. This Privacy Policy is published in Simplified Chinese and English. The two versions are intended to be substantively identical. In the event of any inconsistency or ambiguity, the Simplified Chinese version prevails. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the English version is the version made available to you for the purposes of applicable data protection law.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide to us
Email address: if you sign in with an email verification code, we use it to identify your account and to send you the sign-in code. If you sign in with “Continue with Apple”, the email address is provided by Apple (see item 1.3 below). We do not send any marketing email.
Item information: the name, category, production date, shelf life / expiry date, storage method, ingredients and other details of items that you enter manually or add through the recognition feature.
Photos: photos of item packaging that you take or select from your photo library, used to read the shelf-life information.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
Recognition logs: to diagnose recognition errors and measure service costs, we record the duration of each recognition, its success or failure status and the reason for failure, the model used, token usage, image byte size, client version, and the name of the item involved in that recognition, as well as the exact text of the prompt sent to the AI model. These logs are used only for service-quality analysis, troubleshooting and cost accounting. They are never used for advertising or for building user profiles.
Device and version information: client version number (used for compatibility and troubleshooting).
1.3 Information we receive when you sign in with “Continue with Apple”
If you choose to sign in with “Continue with Apple”, Apple provides us with the following information, which we use only for sign-in and account management:
Apple user identifier: an anonymous identifier Apple uses to distinguish your account. We use it to create and identify your account.
Name: Apple provides this only on your first authorization. We use it as the display name for your account and as the default nickname for a family group.
Email address: Apple also provides this only on your first authorization, to identify your account. If you choose “Hide My Email”, we receive Apple’s private relay address (one ending in privaterelay.appleid.com).
Authorization credential: used only to revoke this App’s authorization on your Apple account when you delete your account (see Section 8). We do not use it for anything else, and we delete it together with your account when you delete it.
We do not receive your Apple ID password, and we cannot access other information in your Apple account. If you would rather not provide the information above, you can sign in with an email verification code instead.
2. How We Use Information
To provide sign-in and data-sync services (supporting both email verification code and “Continue with Apple” sign-in);
To provide the shelf-life recognition feature (see “Photos and AI Recognition” below);
To provide core features such as expiry reminders and item management (reminders appear in the App and in the Home Screen widget; we do not send push notifications);
For service-quality monitoring, troubleshooting and product improvement.
3. Photos and AI Recognition (Important)
Please note: when you use the photo-recognition feature, the photos you take are uploaded to our cloud servers for syncing and recognition, and are sent to a third-party AI provider (a DeepSeek-compatible API) for image recognition, in order to read the shelf-life information on the packaging. Once recognition is complete, the result (such as the expiry date) is saved to your account data.
We upload photos only when you actively start a recognition. We never collect photos automatically in the background. Photos and item information are used only to complete a recognition, sync across your devices, and troubleshoot problems.
Photos are also saved to your cloud account so that they can sync across your devices.
Access by our staff
Where necessary, our operations staff may access your photos or item information. This is limited to troubleshooting, responding to your requests, keeping your data secure and meeting legal requirements, and is subject to internal access controls. It is never used for other purposes, including advertising or facial recognition.
4. Permissions
To provide its core features, the App may request the following permissions. Every permission is requested only at the moment you actively use the relevant feature, and you can turn it off at any time in system settings:
Camera: to photograph item packaging so that the shelf-life information can be read;
Photo Library: to select photos of items you have already taken, so they can be recognized or managed.
Turning a permission off does not affect basic browsing in the App, but it does disable the corresponding recognition and entry features. We never access the camera or your photo library without your authorization.
5. Storage and Security
Where your data is stored: your data is stored on servers located in mainland China (Alibaba Cloud, Shanghai region). Your personal information is not transferred outside mainland China.
How long we keep it: for as long as you use the service. After you delete your account we delete your personal information, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Security measures: we protect your data with technical and organizational measures such as encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and access controls.
6. Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We may share necessary information with third parties only in the following cases:
AI recognition provider (DeepSeek-compatible API): your photos are sent to this provider for processing so that recognition can be completed (see Section 3);
Cloud hosting providers (Zeabur / Alibaba Cloud): as hosting providers, they process your data on our behalf;
Apple: if you sign in with “Continue with Apple”, we send the authorization credential to Apple solely to revoke this App’s authorization on your Apple account when you delete your account (see Sections 1 and 8);
Legal requirements: where we are required to provide information by law, by a regulator, or through judicial process.
These third parties may access your personal information only to the extent necessary to perform the relevant function. Through service agreements, data-processing terms or equivalent arrangements, we require them to protect the personal information we provide with a level of protection equivalent to this policy, and not to use it for any purpose this policy does not describe. If they change the purpose of processing, they must obtain your consent separately.
Family group sharing (important)
Please note: a family group is a sharing feature of this App. It is not a private space. When you create or join a family group, the group’s other members (up to 5 people) can see all of your item information (including archived items) and the photos attached to those items, and can archive or restore items on your behalf.
We provide this feature so that a household can share a single list. You can leave the family group at any time in Settings → My Family Group, and the creator can also dissolve the group. Once you leave, or the group is dissolved, your items and photos are no longer visible to its members.
If you do not want your items or photos to be visible to other family members, do not create or join a family group. Information inside a family group is used only for sharing between its members. We do not use it for any other purpose.
7. Your Rights
Under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and other applicable laws, you have the following rights:
Access and copy: you can view your account and item data in the App, and export your account profile, item list and photo metadata in one tap via Settings → About → Privacy & Compliance → Data → Export My Data;
Rectify: correct personal information that is inaccurate;
Delete: delete items or photos you have entered;
Delete your account: permanently close your account and delete all of your data in the App via Settings → About → Privacy & Compliance → Data → Delete Account (see the next section);
Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent to this policy and the related processing at any time — turn off the App’s camera and photo-library access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security (once off, photo recognition stops working; manual entry is unaffected). If you wish to withdraw your overall consent to the processing of your personal information, you can delete your account in the App via Settings → About → Privacy & Compliance → Data → Delete Account, and we will delete your personal information as part of that (see Section 8). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was carried out on the basis of your consent before you withdrew it;
Complain: lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
You can exercise these rights through the Settings screen in the App, or by contacting us.
8. Deleting Your Account
Note: deleting your account cannot be undone. Once deleted, your account, item data, photos and related information are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
You can start deletion in the App via Settings → About → Privacy & Compliance → Data → Delete Account. After deletion you can register a new account with the same email address, but the original data cannot be recovered.
If you sign in with “Continue with Apple”, deleting your account will also revoke this App’s authorization on your Apple account, and that authorization credential is deleted as well.
9. Minors
The App is aimed at the general public and is not specifically directed at minors. If you are under 14 years old, please read this policy together with a parent or guardian, and use the App only with their consent.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will prompt you in the App to review the latest version. For material changes we will notify you in a prominent way.
